Jamaica may appeal against the decision to strip its entire Beijing 4x100m relay squad of their gold medals after Nesta Carter’s failed drugs test. Like his teammates, Usain Bolt will have to return his gold medal under instructions from the IOC, bringing his Olympic tally down to eight gold medals and removing his well documented ‘Triple Triple’ accomplishment, which he secured at the last Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Michael Frater, Asafa Powell and Dwight Thomas also face forfeiting medals. Jamaican Olympic Association chief Mike Fennell said they have to decide what the best legal process is. The association says it interested in ensuring they are given a fair chance of clearing their names. Carter’s lawyer confirmed on Wednesday that the sprinter will lodge his own appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
