Tropical Storm Karl is still a storm and not getting much stronger just yet, but based on predictions by the National Hurricane Centre (NHC), it could become the fifth hurricane of the Atlantic hurricane season late this week.

The long-range forecast path suggests Karl will move north of the Leeward Islands and Puerto Rico but could be a concern for Bermuda later.

As of 11 a.m., Tropical Storm Karl had maximum sustained winds of 40 miles per hour with higher gusts, and was located about 895 miles east of the Leeward Islands.

Karl was moving west at 13 mph and that motion is expected to continue with a turn to the west-northwest tomorrow.

On that track, Karl should stay well to the north of the Leeward Islands and Puerto Rico, with winds and rain around it remaining over the open waters of the Atlantic. But forecasters say Bermuda should monitor the storm closely.
