A teen mother who gave birth to her second child while incarcerated at Bordelais Correctional Facility is now free. Raise Your Voice St Lucia had led the charge calling for the young mother’s release, arguing that social agencies like the Department of Family Affairs and the Transit Home had failed her, given that she was a ward of the state since age 10. The young mother has received best wishes from the Director of the Bordelais, Leonard Terrence, who says he hopes she will get the support to need to make better life choices not just for her, but for her baby. The young mother says she is desirous of making a change to improve the life of her now one month old child. She is also mother to an older child.
