The St Mary’s College was broken into on Monday night. The incident has forced the closure of the school for today Tuesday.


All students are to remain home, but teachers are asked to report to school. The bandits entered the school and beat up the school’s security guards and tied them up before ransacking the school. Chief education Officer Marcus Edward spoke to us about the incident.

He says the Ministry is working closely with the institution to return a sense of normalcy. He says such incidents must be strongly condemned by the entire society.

School Principal Rohan Seon has also condemned the act. Such an act puts staff and students under tremendous pressure and has significant negative impact on the education of the boys at the school. Education Minister, Dr Gale Rigobert, has been notified and says she is appalled at the continued break ins at school institutions.
