Acting Fire Chief, Joseph Joseph, has expressed condolences to the family and friends of deceased Anthony Cherubin, who died following injuries sustained in a vehicular accident with an ambulance. Joseph says fire officers have been left traumatized by the incident. Counseling is being made available. Neither of the two fire officers on board the ambulance at the time of the accident suffered any serious injuries. In the wake of the incident, Joseph has offered a reminder to members of the public to give way to ambulance services when the siren and lights are on. He says in such situations getting to the hospital in quick time is a matter of life and death. On the other hand he says fire officers have to drive responsibly and adhere to traffic laws. The circumstances surrounding the accident are under investigation. Meanwhile, co-workers of Anthony Cherubin say he was known to be a careful driver. The bakery staff say in his 8 years working at Maneeās bakery he was never been known to be involved in any minor or serious traffic accident. Cherubin would have celebrated his wedding anniversary next week. Family and friends say they are in deep sorrow and will truly miss Cherubin.
