The St Lucia National Trust is confronted with the situation where it will no longer receive annual subvention from the government. The situation is one which has been condemned by some members of the public and the opposition SLP. But the Prime Minister insists that his decision was necessary as government needs to curtail its spending during tough financial times. He believes the best way forward is for the trust to use the resources that it manages to generate funds to cover its recurrent expenditure. Today (Thursday) the SLNT will host a press Conference at the Pigeon Island National Landmark at 9 a.m. to addres the issue of the removal of its subvention and the Trust’s important role in protecting the island’s heritage.
