Castries Mayor, Peterson Francis, declared in a speech at the Festival of Lights on Tuesday, that the City Police Unit working in partnership with the Police Force will bring back law and order in the City of Castries. Francis said over the past few years there has been a blatant disregard for human life and property and that the City of Castries has essentially become a hub for criminal elements and activity. But Francis has promised that all this will be stopped. He highlighted the introduction of an 18 member strong City Police Unit to join with 12 seasoned constabulary officers employed within the Mayor’s office. These constables will be deployed in the coming days and will receive training from the police academy. The ultimate goal is to have a unit of 50 constables to ensure law and order in the city.
