The brother of one of the two men found shot dead at Cantonment Vieux Fort, is speaking out about his death. 24-year-old Trinidadian national, Richie
Ramdass, was one of two men found dead by police on the 31st of December. Richie’s older brother Ravi Ramdass, told a Trinidadian newspaper that about 3 pm on January 1, he received a call from police in St Lucia informing him that his relative Richie Ramdass was shot and killed. He said he thought it was a hoax being played on him by his brother. St Lucian police informed him that they retrieved an identification card from Richie’s wallet and were able to get the information regarding his nationality and address. Ramdass said he spoke to his brother two weeks ago and they had an argument regarding his stay in St Lucia. According to him, he had begged his brother to come home for Christmas as their mother kept asking for him. Ramdass said his brother worked as a ‘pipe-fitter’ for a Trinidadian based company but was off for the holidays and took up an offer to go to St Lucia. He said that his brother had not given any further information about the trip. Ramdass told the newspaper that St Lucia police said they had no motive for the murders and no arrest has been made. The other dead man has been identified as a 26-year-old Venezuelan national.
