The Catholic Church of Saint Lucia is facing criticism from certain quarters for speaking out on the DSH project and other matters. The move has been deemed political by some. On Thursday an email was posted to United Pac’s facebook page, showing excerpts of what it claimed was an email from a Catholic Priest to officials of the Labour Party about the Church’s statement against DSH. The archbishop has denied any political or partisan motives.
He stated that the Church did not write a statement against the government and what the government is doing – but rather wrote a statement about its concerns and the impact of some of the decisions that are being taken in the country at this time and how it is affecting people.
