Commemoration of International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25 November launches the annual “16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence”, which will continue through 10 December (Human Rights Day).  It is a period to galvanise global action on gender-based violence, particularly as it affects women and girls.  The theme of this year’s campaign is “Orange the World:  Raise Money to End Violence against Women and Girls.” International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women – like the 25th of each month – is also Orange Day, a call to raise awareness and mobilise action on preventing violence against women and girls, on the Day and during the 16 Days of Activism that follow.  Your photos, messages and videos showing how you orange your world are can be shared at  facebook.com/SayNO.UNiTE and twitter.com/SayNO_UNiTE using #orangetheworld and #16days.  Orange Day in November highlights Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) #5 (Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls), as this Goal is critical to achieving sustainable gains in any dimension of development, including the end to gender-based violence.
