Finding a temporary location for St. Jude Hospital other than the George Odlum Stadium is not an option at this time, Health Minister Mary Isaac has said. Minister Isaac said the government has looked at several options but there are no available places for the entire hospital. According to her, the best alternative at this time, is to continue with the current construction once the audit is completed.

The minister acknowledged that the project is far behind, blaming the previous government for allowing this to happen. However, Isaac said now that the UWP is back in government, they have come to realize that the plan for the project has changed a number of times and they do not have an idea of what the current plan looks like.

The government announced last month that it was suspending construction at St. Jude based on a number of issues they have discovered that they hope to address.

Only this week, Minister of Economic Development, Guy Joseph announced that the government has decided to conduct a technical audit and has asked the project consultant to hand over all the project documents.

Minister Joseph said it is difficult to say at this time, what will be the exact cost and the date of completion, explaining that although the previous government provided several dates for completion, there was no plan.

The health minister said the government would like to have St. Jude completed before the end of this year.
