Seventh Day Adventist Church leaders have spoken out on allegations of sexual misconduct against two of its pastors.
The two pastors were granted bail this week after being charged with indecent assault and unlawful sexual connection. The SDA Church says it does not and will not condone such acts. Roger Stephen, the Executive Secretary of the Saint Lucia Mission of Seventh Day Adventists, told the media that the SDA church has been a well respected denomination in Saint Lucia, serving the country for over 100 years and making a ‘significant’ contribution to the development and growth of the nation. He says it is unfortunate that at this juncture the church is now faced with allegations involving two employees which has resulted in hurting families and much negative publicity. He explained that while the church strives to uphold righteousness, like all other churches, it too is not immune to human imperfections. The church has also appealed to all to allow the course of justice to take effect in this matter and not rush to judgement.
