Raise Your Voice St Lucia says while it is horrified to learn of the alleged rape and pregnancy of a 12 year old girl, it is equally outraged that rapists in St Lucia know that they are likely to not be convicted for years or, not at all. Catherine Sealys of the organization says rapists take pleasure and comfort in knowing that society will blame the victim, more often than not. She says further, that rapists are emboldened by the fact that there is no forensic lab and cases drag on for years. Sealys says the nation needs to hear from the policy makers and in particular the female parliamentarians, about what policy plans the government will put in place to deal with the rising number of rape cases.
