Raise your voice St Lucia says serious questions need to be asked about how a pregnant teenager found herself at Bordelais and, the role of the agencies that were supposed to protect her. Catherine Sealys of Raise Your Voice St Lucia, says the 16 year old was being housed at a transit home in Gros Islet, but that the management there allegedly asked that she be removed, due to misbehavior. Social workers deemed the teen’s parental home unfit and she was therefore sentenced to Bordelais. Sealys says the organizations that are supposed to provide care and support for troubled children and teens, are failing them too often. She says social workers must be able to step up and do their jobs.

Meanwhile, Sealys has expressed dismay at the news of the alleged rape and resulting pregnancy of a 12 yr old.
