Prime Minister, Allen Chastanet, on Tuesday, inside the House of Assembly, accused the former government of hypocrisy as it relates to investment in St Lucia. He read a letter from the then government to lifestyle group PLC and Equator Lands Companies as it relates to a Praslin development. Prime Minister Chastanet, claims that with virtually no due diligence on the two companies, the former government wrote a letter indicating agreement to a substantial number of concessions as it relates to over thousands of acres of land. He says after years of being accused by the Labor Party of being too generous to investors, he was appalled at the level of concessions, the likes of which he says he has never seen.

The Prime Minister claims the current arguments by the now opposition members, that DSH project puts way too much lands in the hands of one developer is the height of hypocrisy. He told the House to “ hold on to itself” as he read further portions of the letter as it relates to the proposed development under the SLP.

The SLP has previously countered that there was not a signed agreement but rather a comfort letter by the then Prime Minister. Prime Minister, Allen Chastanet, laughed off the suggestion, saying the letter clearly states that Cabinet had agreed to all these concessions. Opponents of DSH say this does not change the fact that DSH is a bad deal.
