Prime Minister, Allen Chastanet, has indicated his disappointed in the manner in which the Dolphin Discovery Inc investors were treated at a recent National Trust meeting. He says the decision about whether St Lucia will in fact have a Dolphin Park was already answered, when the UWP administration took office. The Prime Minister told the media on Monday that there was a proposal to have a Dolphin Park at Anse Janbet Canaries under the former SLP government – a proposal that received the go ahead. Prime Minister Chastanet stated that it was after the developers informed of challenges with the feasibility study at Anse Janbet that he suggested the Pigeon Island National Landmark. That decision he says was fuelled by his opinion that Pigeon Island is “a major asset that is greatly underutilized.” He says St Lucia’s nation policy has always been sustainable use of Marine resources as evidenced in the country being part of the whaling association.
