Following a delay in School Transportation Subsidy Program, the SLP’s spokesperson on the Education sector is expressing concern about the Ministry’s commitment to the safety and security of school students. Opposition Senator, Guibion Ferdinand, a former school principal, claims the students safety was compromised in the government’s haste to fire drivers hired during the SLP’s term in office.
Ferdinand says further he is not convinced that the government and the Education Minister had made any concrete plans to expand the school feeding program, as promised during its campaign.
Hot FM News has reached out to Education Minister, Dr Gale Rigobert for comment. She says following her scheduled cabinet meeting today, she will issue a statement on the matter. The Ministry did issue an earlier press statement alerting parents that they would need to make transportation arrangements for their children this morning. Assigned buses will be announced by this afternoon .
