Talk show host Michael Chastanet, who is also the father of St Lucia’s Prime Minister has words of advice for one Catholic Priest who joined demonstrations against the Vieux Fort DSH project.  The Vieux Fort Parish priest later explained that the he was standing in solidarity with his church members who will be significantly and negatively impacted by the DSH development. But Michael Chastanet is not having it. He cautions the non national priest to stick to his mandate as a priest and stay out of the political and national affairs of the country. He cautions that there is legislation that speaks to the actions of the catholic priest.

Meanwhile social activist, Felicia Brown, is chiming in on the Catholic Church speaking out on the DSH project. There have been many arguments for and against the Church’s move. Brown has expressed the view that the Roman Catholic Church should speak on issues of public interest, even politically charged ones. However, she says the Church ought not to show any form of favouritism, biases or covert discrimination. She calls for the Church to remain objective and resolute in its thinking and approach and work as a medium for national guidance, counsel and goodwill.
