The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) is addressing the matter of a WhatsApp message widely being circulated about Hurricane Matthew and the prediction of a Tsunami hitting the Eastern Caribbean on November 2nd . Communications Manager for NEMO, Kerwin Xavier, says the message is absolutely not coming from any official source and is in fact fake.
Xavier says it is disheartening to note that during times when people are on high alert due to the impact of weather systems, some are being malicious in trying to incite mass panic.
NEMO says clarification can be sort in the event of such messages by contacting the MET Office at telephone (758)454-6550 or NEMO at (758)468-2126.
