Minister of Social Justice, Equity, Lenard Montoute, is expressing his concern about the killing of three women in three separate incidents. The women were alleged victims of domestic abuse and resulting crimes of passion. The Minister assures that his Ministry is spearheading a plan of action to respond to the crisis. The Minister says his ministry will work collaboratively with the Ministry of National Security and Home Affairs and also the Ministry of Education to put structures in place to address issues like effective conflict resolution and providing support to families that have been impacted by the killings. The Ministry has received much criticism from Raise Your Voice St Lucia for not doing enough to reform social services, fund social programs or push for legislation to deal with the problem.
