A British MP has sounded an alarm about an aid program which will provide support to countries like St Lucia. He explained that the Department for International Development has signed off on a project to explore the potential of developing geothermal energy on the island of St Lucia. If successful, the project will slash energy bills on the island and help cut greenhouse gases. But according to the MP, documents reveal that the main beneficiaries of the scheme are likely to be the luxury hotels. The revelation sparked fresh calls for Britain’s bloated £12 billion aid budget to be reined in. The MP said it was unacceptable for British taxpayers to be funding schemes designed to cut the energy bills of luxury hotels.
