Healthcare professionals received their certificates having completed a seven month long training programme which was conducted by the Ministry of Health and Wellness and funded by the European Union (EU).
The programme entitled “Technical Assistance for the Development of a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Programme and Establishment of a Clinical Governance System,” sought to establish standards and guidelines for all aspects of healthcare. Course facilitator, Dominique Freire, a global consultant in the health, education and social sectors highlighted the overall goal of the training programme.
The training programme focused on quality assurance techniques, monitoring and evaluation of services provided and how to created better outcomes for patients. One of the participants, Natalie Preville, a registered nurse and manager, leads the quality nursing team at the Victoria Hospital. She was very optimistic that this quality assurance training would create more patient centered health services.
The consultant was impressed with the level of professionalism of the participants comprising pharmacists, nurses, doctors, nutritionists and managers within the healthcare system.
An overall document establishing the clinical governance system, guidelines and protocols for the health sector is expected to be produced and implemented embodying all facets of the health sector.
