Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Dominic Fedee, says a decision will soon be made on the future of Radio St Lucia. Fedee told the media on Friday that Cabinet is awaiting a report from the board of directors, before it decides on the next move for the station which is currently buried in debt. The company has an outstanding debt of over $1 million. The Minister says the government has to be open about everything, especially given the fiscal circumstances that it has inherited. He says preliminary evaluation suggests that RSL is perhaps a bit overstaffed. Closing the radio station is one of the options to be considered, but the minister said his government will also take into account, long-standing employees of the company, when making a decision.
