Estranged couples go through “a honeymoon phase” and it is important “for a ‘macco’ society to save women from themselves”.
This view was expressed yesterday by secretary of the Association of Psychiatrists of Trinidad and Tobago, Dr Varma Deyalsingh, in light of the murder-suicide of Gasparillo couple Keyon Roberts, 31, and his estranged girlfriend, Christine Joseph, 21.
Joseph, a security guard, was found dead with her throat slit on Monday.
Police believe Roberts killed Joseph and set himself on fire outside the house. A forensic pathologist found that the 21 yr old murder victim Christine Joseph was stabbed at least 50 times. Her throat was slit from ear to ear, with the wound extending to the back of her neck, the police say they classify this type of homicide as ‘committed with brutality’”.  Joseph had tried to run away from her attacker and when she collapsed her killer inflicted the fatal slash wound to her throat.
