As a part of it capacity building and club development program the Castries Football Council (CFC) hosted a First Aid certification program for its affiliates on Saturday August 27th.

The First Aid training program was hosted by Glen Wilson of the St. John’s Ambulance Brigade and it sought to provide attendees with the necessary knowledge to not only deal with sports related injuries but more importantly to prepare them to provide life saving first response First Aid treatment.

Chairman of the Castries Football Council, Valdez James indicated that the timing First Aid certification was ideal because the CFC was currently preparing to host another ECFH/Lucelec Youth Football Tournament. He believes that with this training coaches and managers of the various youth teams would be better prepared to handle potential player injuries or if necessary provide life saving First Aid treatment.

There were nine attendees at the course from among the CFC’s affiliates and executive and all participants received a certificate from the St John’s Ambulance Brigade. Participants are expected to remain active within their respective clubs especially with their youth programs.

Following this First Aid course the CFC will soon engage its affiliates in club administration and youth coaching workshops as it seeks to strengthen the club infrastructure and knowledge base among its members.
