Baron Foods, officially set up shop in Trinidad and Tobago over the weekend, with an opening ceremony during which Trade Minister, Paula Gopeee-Singh, welcomed the company’s investment. According to local media reports, Gopee-Singh revealed that Baron Foods had spent in excess of US $5 million to establish their manufacturing facility in Chaguanas. The T&T minister disclosed that there will be employment opportunities for over 50 persons and the export potential to contribute significantly to the economy and generate foreign exchange in the process. Baron Foods produces more than 150 products, many of which are internationally recognized. The company’s new plant will produce a range of sauces and condiments and will also utilize local hot peppers, herbs and spices in its production.
