Attorney, Mary Francis says the recent police killing of a Marigot man is of serious concern. Eyewitnesses claimed that the man was running away when he was shot in the head by a police officer. She says such incidents have been happening for too long and she expressed surprise that even in the aftermath of IMPACS they are still happening. She wants to see an independent and permanent coroner’s office, be given the responsibility of handling all investigations of police killings. She says furthermore an inquest needs to be limited to a maximum of 6 months.
