A woman of Dennery has been charged with obtaining money by false pretence after she allegedly scammed a number of people out of hundreds of dollars. The woman was recently arrested recently but was then released pending further investigation. She was re arrested over the weekend and slapped with three charges of obtaining money by false pretense. The alleged con artist targeted people with stories about a sick daughter or other family, soliciting money for medical care. The woman is also alleged to have scammed a number of people in Dennery, after promising to link them to jobs in Martinique. She lured them in with promises that they could earn as much 3000 Euros a month doing jobs such as construction and farming, housekeeping and cooking. Residents reportedly made payments of a little over 400 dollars and handed over their passports to the woman. She is expected in court sometime this week.
