A female special police constable successfully apprehended a would-be robber in the city of Castries on Monday morning. The man had snatched a chain from a cruise ship visitor and took off running. The female officer gave chase and was able to apprehend him. He was taken away by police to custody suites. President of the Vendors Association says the situation is critical as cruise ship passengers are opting to remain on board their vessels as word of such incidents spread on board. He says it is getting harder and harder for the average person to get a piece of the tourism pie because of the impact of crime on the sector.
