Sometime after midnight a man attempted to rob a shop in Babonneau and make a quick getaway. However, things did not turn out as he had planned. He is currently in hospital nursing multiple injuries after allegedly being beaten by the shop owner and some residents of the neighbourhood. Reports are that the bandit came into the shop, dressed in black, wearing a mask and carrying a gun. He reportedly took alcohol from the shelf and demanded that people hand over their cash. A small group of people in the shop tackled him. Photos showing the robber naked, bloodied and bruised have been made public and posted online.
