Police are investigating a report that three masked  bandits held up a number of  persons visiting the New Jerusalem waterfall in Soufriere on Thursday afternoon.

The incident occurred at about 2:30 p.m., according to information obtained by the Times.

One of the robbery victims is reported to have been hit on the head by one of the bandits.

There were conflicting reports regarding what weapons were carried by the criminals, whether guns or knives – or both.

However it is reported that about seven locals and one non-national who were visiting the waterfall at the time were relieved of their valuables, including a diamond ring.
