Du Boulay’s Bottling Company Ltd, DBC, has announced a planned merger with the Windward and Leeward Brewery, shortly after receiving a major regional award.
DBC is now poised to become a major exporter and established as probably the “most successful indigenous business enterprise in the Eastern Caribbean”.
The Managing Director, Dunstan Du Boulay says “one of the proudest moments of his life” was receiving the Caribbean Export “Investor of the Year Award” in Miami in the presence of hundreds of business executives from the Caribbean, North America and the wider world.
Du Boulay’s Bottling won over 29 other entries from the CARICOM region. The award was presented to Mr. Du Boulay by the President of the Caribbean Association of Investment Promotion Agencies McHale Andrew.
Mr. Du Boulay says this was happening just as DBC was becoming the supply point for the OECS, what he described as a ‘formidable achievement’.
Du Boulay’s Bottling Company was established 45 years ago on the 1st of March 1972 with a modest production plant, one delivery truck and 12 staff. Four brothers, Tony, Leslie, Frank and Dunstan Du Boulay were the founding members.
Last week DBC announced that it was in the process of a merger with the Windward and Leeward Brewery which itself has been in existence in St. Lucia for 40 years.
The merger of DBC and WLBL is yet to be finalised as details are ironed out. Dunstan Du Boulay said it was necessary to inform the public that talks, which started one year ago, were ongoing. He said the proposed merger will be in the best interest of both companies and St. Lucia.
