Antigua records its first case of the Zika Virus

The Ministry of Health in Antigua has said there is no need for panic as the country confirmed a Gray’s Farm woman is the first Zika virus case.

At an emergency press conference yesterday, Minister of Health Molwyn Joseph said the unnamed woman returned to Antigua from the Dominican Republic back in early April, when she started showing signs of infection. Read more...

Saint Lucia Labour Party candidate for Micoud South, Guibion Ferdinand, said he is ready to provide what he described as ‘quality representation’ to the people of that constituency. Ferdinand who will contesting that seat against United Workers Party (UWP) leader, Allen Chastanet, said that his life and belief system are in sync with the party.

GuibionFerdinand, who was born and has resided in Desruisseaux all his life is the Former Principal of the Micoud Secondary School, a community activist, sports enthusiast and educator. British Foreign Secretary, Philip Hammond, attended the 9th UK-Caribbean Ministerial Forum in The Bahamas for talks on trade and investment, security and justice reform and global challenges like climate change. He was accompanied by Minister for the Caribbean, James Duddridge.

Taking place every two years, the Forum is a high-level dialogue on bilateral, regional and international issues between the UK and the Caribbean community. Read more...
