Rastafarians from various parts of the country converged on the fishing village of Dennery yesterday

Rastafarians from various parts of the country converged on the  fishing village of Dennery yesterday  to commemorate Emancipation Day and reiterate calls for reparations from European countries that were responsible for the slave trade.Organizers of the event estimate that some 100 Rastafarians took part in the activity, which saw them stage a march from La Pointe near the Dennery Fire station, down the La Pointe Hill, through High street and to the grounds of the multi-purpose centre where solidarity messages were read.
