One of two police officers involved in a traffic accident on the Dennery Bypass on July 16, is now in a serious condition at the St. Jude Hospital and in need of blood.  Alva Antoine is to undergo emergency surgery tomorrow Friday July 18, 2014.

High hopes have been expressed for the 51 million euro state-of-the-art New National Hospital, which according to Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony has the potential to be the most modern and sought-after hospital in the Eastern Caribbean. Speaking at a guided tour of the facility at Coubaril this week, Dr. Anthony said that once the institution is completed and the promise is fulfilled “it is going to be perhaps the most modern and most sought-after hospital in the Caribbean.   He said while the hospital is a gift from the EU, it is also an opportunity for the people of the eastern Caribbean to secure modern health care. LIME renews support for Feed the Poor Ministries

Feed The Poor Ministries, the community outreach initiative founded and run by city vendor Gaspard Henry, has once again received the support of Saint Lucia and the Caribbean's leading telecommunications service provider, LIME. The programme was started in 2006, with the aim of preparing and distributing hot meals to indigent, homeless, mentally ill and sick and shut-in persons in the city of Castries. Gaspard started with $500, and was able to provide just 15 meals. Now, with the assistance of corporate entities like LIME, he feeds literally scores of individuals at least three times a week.
