The Tourism Minister and other tourism officials met with the Florida Caribbean cruise association (FCCA) to examine trends in the cruise sector and improve Saint Lucia’s overall tourism product.

The CEO of the FCCA told local officials that they had not done a good job at marketing St Lucia as a demand destination but rather, they have focused on marketing St Lucia as a warm weather destination. Therefore, she says when the weather is warm people go elsewhere. She says St Lucia needs to do a better job of marketing its other unique attributes, such as it culture.  The Tourism minister says there will be a new Tourism Council to see to such matters including the greater promotion of village tourism.
