PAHO has concluded that tragic road deaths across the Caribbean could be significantly reduced if authorities beef up traffic management. The organization is recommending the lowering of speed limits, the installation of more speed bumps and the construction of roundabouts among speed management measures. According to the Regional Advisor on Road Safety, “the region has made progress in adopting standards that limit speed in urban areas, but it needs to further strengthen the application of these standards to reduce deaths and injuries due to traffic accidents.’
