Communications and Advocacy Officer at the St Lucia National Trust, Karetta Crooks Charles, says it simply not true that the National Trust did not speak out about the Le Paradis Development. The Trust notes that comparisons are being made between the two developments and she is defending the Trust’s track consistency in championing the cause of conservation and protection.

Krooks-Charles highlights that the Le Paradis lands were private property. In contrast, the Pigeon Island National Landmark, the Maria Islands Nature Reserve and the Pointe Sable Environmental Protection Area are entrusted to the National Trust, to be managed as public goods and in the national interest.
