Infrastructure Minister, Stephenson King, has announced that his ministry will put in place the necessary road infrastructure to bring about a level of safety on St Lucia’s roads. These include street paintings and signs and the implementation of speed limits on highways, in particular from the Choc Hill to the Choc Bridge. The Ministry has appealed for a greater level of caution from the motoring public. The Ministry is also considering an extensive and aggressive road safety public education campaign. So far for this year, the island has recorded 7 road fatalities. The latest claimed the lives of two teenage girls, while a young man remains in the Intensive Care Unit at Victoria Hospital.
