Prime Minister, Allen Chastanet, at Tuesday’s sitting of the House of Assembly made a motion to parliament to borrow the sum of US$15 million to extend the Breasting Dolphin Berth at Pointe Seraphine, to facilitate the docking of mega cruise vessels. The government hopes the project will place Saint Lucia as the number one cruise ship destination in the Caribbean. Tourism Minister, Dominic Fedee, said the initiative was absolutely necessary if Saint Lucia is to increase its competitiveness.
The Minister for Infrastructure, Stephenson King, said the move is part of overall vision to establish world class cruise ports in Castries and the south.
