St Lucia’s former High Commissioner to the UK and the current Castries south MP, Dr Ernest Hilaire, has filed a law suit against Prime Minister, allen Chastanet. Dr Hilaire has confirmed that the suit was filed on Monday. According to the former High Commissioner to the UK, the Prime Minister has allegedly defamed him with is utterances surrounding the appointment of, now deceased, Dr Walid Juffali. Dr Hilaire says comments about wrongdoing on his part have persisted and he will no longer tolerate such utterances. He points to the fact that Prime Minister himself has argued his right to initiate legal proceedings against those who he believes are seeking to defame him. The Prime Minister recently threatened to sue a local reporter and tv station if statements were not retracted. Dr Hilaire says he too has a right to protect his reputation, even from the Prime Minister.
