National Security Minister, Hermangild Francis, says the government is exploring various options to beef up school security in light of recent robberies and attacks. Francis says one idea that has come is to look at the canine unit and have canines at schools during the evening. According to him, the days of watchmen are long gone. He said it costs the government a lot of money when schools are broken into, especially when groceries for the school feeding programme are stolen and have to be replaced. Therefore, he says that there must be security that will take care of students when they are at school and security to look at the facilities when the children are not at school.
