The government of St Lucia held a Prayer, Praise and Worship Celebration on Sunday at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Ground. The event was held as part of the official calendar of activities for the island’s 38th anniversary of Independence. It followed a national day of prayer which was held on Friday. Politicians from both the government and opposition joined together with church leaders and citizens to pray for the nation, amid distressing times, when crime and violence have experienced a spike. Prime Minister Allen Chastanet, prayed for healing and deliverance from crime, drugs and lawlessness for all. He prayed for the youth who seem to be lost, to find their way. He asked that God allow the government to demonstrate love and compassion for the people of the country.
