Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Dominic Fedee, is questioning why the CSA took the concerns of Radio St Lucia staff to the media before seeking dialogue with the government. Fedee says a review of the operations of RSL is needed, given what he says is the current heavy financial burden that the station is placing on the state. On Friday the CSA met with its members employed at the station after receiving unconfirmed reports that the station would be closing down. The Minister is questioning the handling of the situation.

CSA President, Evonne Edwin, says the union is simply providing representation to its members.

Minister Fedee told the media recently that Cabinet is awaiting a report from the board of directors, before it decides on the next move for the cash-strapped company. The Minister says RSL has for too long function like a political organization.

According to the Minister the company has an outstanding debt of over 1 million dollars.
