A number of outraged residents of the south descended on Parliament on Tuesday morning. The residents came to demonstrate, wearing t-shirts that read, “Save Our Sandy Beach”. Some had posters and placards as they called for the DSH project to be stopped. The more than 50 residents of the south say they are deeply concerned that the majority of lands in the south will be in the hands of Desert Star Holdings. Some supporters of the government and the DSH project, soon joined in the commotion, trading arguments with the protestors. They accused the demonstrators of playing politics with the issue of investment and development. During the commotion outside the Parliament, Speaker of the House, Leon Theodore, came out looking clearly annoyed and instructed the crowd to keep the level of noise down to allow the business of the House to proceed in peace.
