The President of the Civil Service Association, Evonne Edwin, says as the bargaining unit for employees of the St Lucia Tourist Board, her association is very concerned about moves to transform the SLTB into a Tourism Authority, and how it will impact its members. The CSA has written to the Tourist Board requesting that a meeting be held urgently to discuss the announcement of a Tourism Authority. The letter was dispatched on Wednesday 9th November.

The CSA President says the main objective is to ensure it’s members will not be disadvantaged, and will be treated fairly. Prime Minister, Allen Chastanet, has indicated that the government will seek to “professionalize” and not “politicize” the new Tourism Authority, which will replace the Tourist Board. Edwin says the manner in which this is unfolding is certainly not the norm but that the union will reserve judgment on the matter until a formal sit down has been convened,
