The Caribbean Development Bank has approved 23.4 million US dollars in financing for a project, which aims to strengthen Saint Lucia’s education system. The programme, called the Education Quality Improvement Project (EQuIP) is expected to improve the teaching and learning environment across the country through the expansion and rehabilitation of five schools. The EQUIP project will also aim to address the needs of children who learn differently. Training will be provided for 25 teacher educators and 375 teachers in specific areas of need. 120 principals and education officers will also receive training under the project. The Government of Saint Lucia will contribute 4.9 million US dollars to the project.
