Breast cancer is the leading cancer diagnosed among women and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths. On a global average a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every two minutes, and it claims a life every 13 minutes (American Cancer Society). The disease also affects a number of men. As the world marks October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Sandals Resorts in St. Lucia wants to play its part in raising awareness to help fight this frightening disease. Regional Public Relations Manager for Sandals, Sunil Ramdeen, says come Friday October 14, Sandals will encourage all of its team talents in Saint Lucia to wear pink – or wear a pink ribbon – to show solidarity with the many women and men who are fighting breast cancer, and for all the survivors who have had to face this pervasive disease.
This month Sandals in St. Lucia will also support the fifth annual ‘Walk for the Cure’ with CIBC First Caribbean Bank as a Platinum partner. The company will also partner with the Ministry of Health to undertake an in-house mobilization across the three Resorts on the island that will include a free comprehensive screening and information program for Sandals team members.
