Six experts from the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) drawn from Saint Lucia and Jamaica are now stationed in Haiti to provide operational support in response to the widespread devastation caused by Hurricane Matthew.
The team of experts will provide support to coordination efforts in Jérémie and Les Cayes, two settlements most affected by Matthew. Haiti has begun three days of national mourning for those killed by Hurricane Matthew, which devastated the south of the country. At least 900 people are believed to have died. Tens of thousands of homes have been destroyed and some 350,000 people need aid.
