A former prison officer was reportedly arrested Thursday for possession of cocaine.

It was not immediately clear where the arrest took place.

During a search of the former prison officer’s car, an estimated one kilogram of cocaine was found.

The drugs would be worth about sixty thousand pounds sterling on the UK market which was suspected to be its final destination.

The former prison officer, who is reported to have served for about sixteen years on the job, is expected to be charged shortly for the drug offence.

On August 22 this year, UK Border Control officials discovered six kilograms of cocaine hidden in hollowed out breadfruit shipped from Saint Lucia.

The consignment of ninety-three boxes of plantains and breadfruit had arrived at Gatwick from St Lucia
