Prime Minister Allen Chastanet and Agriculture Minister Ezechiel Joseph are back on Island after a three country visit in the last week. In London, the Prime Minister held discussions with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and other government representatives on the continued funding of the justice reform program. Prime Minister Chastanet says there is concern from ally nations about St.Lucia’s broken justice system. While the IMPACS investigation report is on the list, there is also concern for the lagging Lambirds case. The absence of a DPP he says is hindering the progress of cases with some 4,000 cases backlogged.

The Prime Minister says his administration is looking into securing a DPP but the salary being offered is not attractive. As such Government is preparing to raise the salary grade. The salary currently stands at $13,000 a month. This he says is very low compared to other Islands where DPPs earn more than $20,000.

In Paris, the Agriculture Minister led talks with distributors of French bananas. He reported the discussions as being fruitful, adding that there is potential life for bananas on the world market.

In Morocco, discussions were held on the fertilizer program funded by the Moroccan government along with other initiatives.
